History, continued In May '94 the Pima County Medical Society journal, the Sombrero, published an article supportive of USHIN which inspired further interest among medical professionals in the community. Dr. Maas has spoken at schools, professional and consumer advocacy groups and social service conferences and maintained contact with other related consumer, provider and telecommunications efforts. USHIN volunteer outreach for collaboration spanned all related interests, including health providers, consumers, community services, information and referral groups, education, business, telecommunications, library and state leadership views. Hundreds of USHIN concept and history packets were distributed. A statewide conference, "USHIN is Ours to Build", was held in October of 1994, with almost 600 invitees, across the spectrum of public and business perspectives. Social, Political, Financial and Technical issues were discussed in break-out sessions, and a summary of the conference mailed to participants with an update of USHIN activities. Since that time there have been multiple prototypes being developed behind the scenes. Model 3.1 shows a simulation of USHIN using a realistic example of use.
